The American Grant Fisher set a new world record on 3,000 meters indoors at the Millrose Games in New York. The gala ended with yet another world record on an English mile.

The record-breaking race offered fine drama as Fisher sprinted past Cole Hocker, Olympic champion on 1,500 meters, on the final lap.

Fisher finished in 7:22.91, thereby beating Ethiopian Lamecha Girma's previous world record from 2023 of 7:23.81.

The gala ended with American Yared Nuguse setting an indoor world record on the English mile (1,609 meters). The 25-year-old won in a time of 3:46.63. The previous record, from 2019, was held by Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha at 3:47.01.

It's completely crazy, says Nuguse to NBC Sports.

Both Fisher and Nuguse took medals at the Olympic Games in Paris last year. Fisher brought home Olympic bronze on both 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, and Nuguse took bronze on 1,500 meters.
