Yomif Kejelcha from Ethiopia has set a new world record in the half-marathon, writes the International Athletics Federation on X.
In the half-marathon in Valencia, Spain, he crossed the finish line in 57.30, one second faster than the previous record, held by Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda.
Kejelcha was born in 1997 and is a specialized long- and middle-distance runner.
He took silver in the 10,000 meters at the World Championship in Doha 2019 and also has two gold medals in the 3,000 meters from the Indoor World Championship (2016 and 2018).
