Stieg Larsson's first book "Men Who Hate Women", in English "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", will form the basis of the new television series produced by the British television company Sky. It is not yet known who will play the lead role in the new version.
The new series will bring the story "into the present, but be firmly anchored in Stieg Larsson's Millennium books and the characters' DNA, with themes that are particularly relevant today," the producers said in a comment to Variety.
“Men Who Hate Women” was published in 2005, a year after the author’s death at the age of only 50. The book was the start of the Millennium Trilogy, which became an international phenomenon.
The Swedish films based on the books, starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist, were followed by two international films: one starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, and another starring Claire Foy and Sverrir Gudnason.
