Samuel Pihlström was only 15 hundredths slower than his own Swedish indoor record when he won the 1,500 meters in 3:35.62 during an athletics competition in Karlsruhe, Germany on Friday evening. Only eight runners have run faster in 2025, according to the Swedish Athletics Association.
The time is also under the association's qualification limit for the upcoming indoor championships in March, the European Championship in Apeldoorn, Netherlands and the World Championship in Nanjing, China.
"The plan is to run both the European Championship and the World Championship", says Pihlström in a press release.
Pihlström continues to show brilliant form. Earlier in the week, the 23-year-old set a Swedish record in the indoor mile, 3:54.78, in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
