The Tailor, the Doping, the Otter, the Crocodile, and the Starfish are the names of the new badges that will complement the existing badges and make the path to swimming proficiency more inspiring.

"There has been a gap where the first step to our existing swimming badges has often been about actually swimming. But it can be too big a first step for many," says Jill af Edholm, communications officer at the Swedish Life Saving Society in a press release.

The new badges focus on basic exercises such as looking underwater, floating, or doing a somersault in the water.

According to the Swedish Life Saving Society, the positive trend in the number of drowning accidents has leveled out over the past decade.

"It's a worrying trend. We need to constantly find new ways to promote swimming proficiency, and starting even earlier in life is an important part of the solution," says Jill af Edholm.
