PST (Norwegian Police Security Service) suspects that a Chinese citizen is attempting illegal intelligence activities in Nordland in northern Norway, PST communications advisor Eirik Veum told NTB.
The arrest took place on May 15, but Veum declined to say where it happened or what was allegedly the target of the intelligence operation.
It is also not clear whether the man was resident in Norway.
On May 7, another Chinese citizen was arrested in Norway on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted serious illegal intelligence activity. The person in that case is believed to have attempted to collect satellite data.
