While Norway's top brass is under intense scrutiny over links between royals, politicians and diplomats and American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a new scandal has erupted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Just before Christmas, Eide's son received an internship at the Norwegian embassy in Paris without the connection to his father being sufficiently disclosed.
"It is my responsibility to familiarize myself with and understand the rules of impartiality. I have made a mistake here," says Eide.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, however, says he continues to have confidence in the Foreign Minister.
It is important that he now apologizes and wants to clean up.
