The snowstorm that passed through Skåne this morning has now moved north towards Svealand. Ahead of Epiphany, SMHI has issued yellow warnings of heavy snowfall along virtually the entire east coast.
Heavy snow showers are expected in Gävleborg and parts of Dalarna. Locally, up to 30 centimeters of snow may fall, which, according to SMHI, could cause traffic problems.
The reason we have issued several warnings is that it's a big traffic weekend. There will be a lot of people out on the roads. Keep your distance and take it easy, says meteorologist Lisa Frost.
Cold throughout the country
The whole country is experiencing sub-zero temperatures. In the south, temperatures vary between minus two and minus seven degrees. In northern Sweden, where there is settled weather, temperatures are between minus 20 and minus 30 degrees, locally it can approach minus 40.
It's very cold. If there are a few clouds, there may be some light snowfall, but it's not like the snowy weather that passes through southern Sweden, says Lisa Frost.
Due to the cold, train traffic between Luleå and Narvik has been suspended since Friday and there is no forecast for when it will resume.
Hundreds without power
According to Svenska kraftnät, approximately 2,400 subscribers are without electricity as of 2 p.m. on Monday. The energy company Ellevio, which has several customers in Gävleborg County, tells TT that around a hundred customers are still without power in the county - and that they have been since December 27.
"The repair work has gone as well as it could. The conditions are still tough. First a lot of trees fell and then a meter of snow came," says Jonatan Björck, communications manager at Ellevio.
