A man was convicted of raping a woman and pushing her down a mine shaft in 2022. The woman survived and the man was convicted of attempted murder and aggravated rape. A murder investigation is now underway around the shaft, reports Aftonbladet .
"We have set up a cordon around a mine shaft in Norberg," police spokesman Stefan Larsson told the newspaper.
The case under investigation is believed to have occurred several years ago.
It concerns a preliminary investigation into murder. The police Cold Case Unit is handling the case, Larsson told TV4 Nyheterna.
Investigations will be conducted at the site, but not in the next few days because the terrain is difficult and inaccessible.
