They are the latest cases in a malaria outbreak linked to the city's international airport. Both people lived nearby and were likely infected by a mosquito that came aboard an airplane, local health authorities said on Thursday.
A total of eight cases have been confirmed in the Frankfurt area in recent weeks, including three deaths. At the end of August, six airport employees fell ill with malaria, two of whom died.
The two new cases concern people who were affected "despite not having travelled to an area where malaria occurs nor working at the airport," the authorities said in a statement.
