On April 1, it will be illegal to import, use, and possess white snus in France. All sales will also be stopped.

France will be the strictest country in Europe regarding white snus, but more countries are expected to follow suit.

Violations of the new law can result in imprisonment for up to five years and fines reaching into the millions.

It is completely unreasonable, says Benjamin Dousa (M), Sweden's Minister of Trade, to Aftonbladet.

The Swedish Customs Agency writes to TT that it refers to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website Swedenabroad.se for information on what applies to white snus in different countries.

The sale of brown snus has long been banned in France, but private individuals are allowed to have small quantities for their own use.
