New Jersey lost the fifth eighth-final against Carolina with 5–4 after overtime. Carolina is the first playoff team to advance to the quarterfinals with 4–1 in the best of seven matches.
Three Crowns can thus get a few new dream names from NHL to the World Championship on home soil, which begins next week.
Jesper Bratt has impressed in the NHL this season and was the top-scoring Swede during the regular season with 88 points, 21 goals and 67 assists, in 81 played matches. The 26-year-old was also part of the national team tournament Four Nations in North America in February and was one of the most prominent Swedish players. Jacob Markström was also selected then, but the 35-year-old was forced to decline due to a knee injury.
Previously, among others, New York Rangers' Mika Zibanejad and Nashville's Filip Forsberg have accepted playing in the World Championship since their teams were eliminated in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The World Championship takes place in Stockholm and Herning, Denmark, May 9–25.
