New Iranian security chief appointed after Larijani's death

The new head of the Iranian Security Council will be Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, a former commander in the Revolutionary Guard, Iranian state media report.

Former security chief Larijani - a powerful figure within the Islamic Republic - was confirmed dead last week after Israel said it had killed him in an attack.

The Israeli army then said in a statement that Larijani served as the "de facto leader of the Iranian terror regime."
