According to the defense website defensa.com, Peru is instead about to choose the American F-16 aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
"We have taken note of media reports about Peru's choice of fighter aircraft. We have not received any official information that Peru has decided to choose another supplier of fighter aircraft," Saab's press department writes in a comment to TT and continues:
"We are, of course, following the process and are convinced that Gripen would be the best and most cost-effective fighter aircraft for Peru."
In total, it would involve the purchase of 24 fighter jets, a multi-billion-dollar deal.
