The long-running "Idol" is in its 23rd year and is bringing new blood to the programme by bringing in Oliver Norqvist, who himself comes from a band that didn't even have a record deal when they broke through.

I am so impressed by those who are searching, I would never have dared.

Why not?

Firstly, I would have been terrified of Anders Bagge and secondly, I don't sing very well, only with autotune.

“Like a slap in the face”

Peg Parnevik is in her third season on the jury. She says that she, Anders Bagge and Katia Mosally experienced a completely different energy during filming than in previous years.

I think that's a lot of Oliver's credit. He comes in and is a total mess, like a slap in the face, but in the best possible way. It was also nice for me to have another artist on the jury.

She reveals that the two of them didn't get along at all. And unlike last season's fake fight with Mosally, this time it was real.

I hope they don't put it on TV actually. He was the only one who wanted to send someone on. I told him he was wrong and then he got really irritated and yelled at us. But I had kind of already forgotten about it, so it's no big deal, haha!

Keyyo new sidekick

Another news in the "Idol" universe is that Kristina "Keyyo" Petrushina - after her success as a presenter in Melodifestivalen - is stepping in as the new sidekick to Pär Lernström, who is doing his fifteenth season as a presenter.

It's been wonderful, I actually said yes mostly to work with Pär. We worked together on "Talang" and now it's like the circle is closing. I aim to host all music programs on Swedish television, she jokes.

Pär Lernström reflects on how much time has passed since the start – and his own debut in 2011.

I remember standing there waving a CD to illustrate what the winner would get to experience. That's not done today.

He thinks that recruiting Oliver Nordahl to the jury was the best thing that could have happened to the program.

He's really the right man in the right place, considering how "self-made" he is. He shows these young hopeful artists that you can actually create a career all on your own without a record company behind you.

Premiere: Saturday, August 22 at 8:00 PM on TV4 and TV4 Play.

The classic Friday finals have been moved and the program will instead be shown on Saturdays.

Hosts: Pär Lernström and Kristina “Keyyo” Petrushina.

Main jury: Anders Bagge, Katia Mosally, Peg Parnevik and new member Oliver Norqvist.

During the audition tour, a special influencer jury consisting of Tilda Törnqvist, Julia Ringblom, Johanna Öholm and Sem Bloom will also participate to help find new talents.
