The Dursley family - Harry Potter's relatives - have been given a new look, plus Hagrid is taking the London Underground with Harry Potter.
These are some of the news revealed in HBO's first trailer, the BBC notes in its review. It also appears that viewers will see Harry Potter in a regular Muggle school before he goes to Hogwarts.
Much - such as the costumes - is recognizable from the original films, however. Cinematic gems such as the scene where Harry, Hermione and Ron first meet on the train are also retained, including Ron's dirt on his nose. The first season is called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and J.K. Rowling is one of the series' producers.
