In September, open auditions began to find child actors who can portray Harry Potter himself, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. But no names have been presented yet.

Ralph Fiennes, who played the antagonist Voldemort in the original films, has recently said that he would like to see Irish actor Cillian Murphy in the role.

Author J K Rowling is still involved in the project and has been part of the discussions regarding screenwriters and directors. "Succession" screenwriter Francesca Gardner will become the head writer of the Harry Potter series and "Succession" director Mark Mylod has signed on to direct several episodes.

The seven books are said to have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide. The films starring Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role have grossed a total of 7.7 billion dollars.
