She has previously been the deputy governor of the central bank and has a background as a national economist and journalist. She comes from a management position at BIS, the central banks' bank, with its seat in Basel.
The process has been very thorough, considering the instability that has been at the agency, says Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner (KD) at a press conference.
It was in September last year that the government announced that they no longer had confidence in Anna Kinberg Batra. The news came after the former M leader had been heavily criticized and received severe criticism from the Parliamentary Ombudsman, among other things for some disputed recruitments.
It is, of course, a challenge. I know that the confidence in the previous county administration was quite low. The acting county administration has done a good job of creating a sense of calm, but I do not think that the challenges are over by a long shot, says Skingsley to TT.
"Solid process"
The process of finding a new governor has taken almost eight months. After the turmoil surrounding her predecessor, the new governor marks a departure from the tradition of appointing a former top politician from their own ranks.
How much of a safe choice do you think you are yourself?
Others will have to decide that, but I bring with me a large number of experiences from other sectors. I have undergone a number of interviews and checks, and I have perceived it as a solid process, says she.
Wants to work with civil defense
She brings with her from her previous jobs a great interest in new technology and efficiency.
But also an awareness that the world's geopolitical development, unfortunately, is heading in the wrong direction. And that requires that Stockholm, we at the County Administrative Board, together with the municipalities, and the private sector, work together when it comes to issues of civil defense and resilience.
Cecilia Skingsley will take office on June 16.
