"The members of our board have no tolerance for sustained high inflation," Warsh says in a speech he will deliver at 4 p.m. Swedish time.
Since taking office in May, Warsh has emphasized that the central bank's primary goal is to combat inflation.
"If we design monetary policy correctly, which we will do, the inflation trend of the last five years will be a thing of the past," he says in the prepared speech.
This afternoon, fresh figures showed that inflation in the US, according to the CPI measure, came to 3.5 percent in June. This is clearly higher than the central bank's target of 2 percent.
