"To begin with, I am very happy and grateful for the trust the club has given me. As a Västerås resident, getting the opportunity to lead "Grönvitt" in the country's top league feels fantastic. In recent years, we have gradually built something very good, but we have more to give," Rubin tells the club's website.
Alexander Rubin replaces Kalle Karlsson, who is leaving the coaching position after leading Västerås to the Allsvenskan for the second time.
Rubin has been an assistant coach since 2021.
It is not yet clear what will happen to Kalle Karlsson.
"A continued goal from the board is that Kalle chooses to stay with us. With a head coach in place, it is of course in the role of sports director that we would like to see Kalle Karlsson," says Västerås chairman Magnus Breitholtz.
Västerås SK made it directly back to the Allsvenskan after leaving as a newcomer in 2024.
