The new head of Ingka Group, which owns most of Ikea's department stores, is clearing out managers, reports Dagens Industri.

CEO Juvencio Maeztu is removing every third position in the group management to increase focus on sales and to reverse a multi-year trend of declining or unchanged sales, according to the newspaper.

Daniela Rogosic, communications manager at Ingka Group, says that the idea is that all members of the management team will have their own responsibility for one or more of the ten most important countries in the new organization.

At the same time, Sweden manager Emily Birkin is being brought into the group management team, as responsible for development and transformation issues.

It is unclear who will succeed her as head of Sweden.
