New case of illness – Lundgren breaks off the tour

Three Swedish female cross-country skiers have already been forced to withdraw from the Tour de Ski in Italy due to illness – now a fourth withdrawal is coming. A few hours before the start of Friday's sprint stage in Val di Fiemme, the news arrives that Moa Lundgren has fallen ill.

"Moa Lundgren has woken up with cold symptoms and will not start today's sprint in Val di Fiemme. She is thus discontinuing the Tour de Ski", writes the national cross-country team in a statement.

Earlier in the week, Lundgren's roommate Märta Rosenberg fell ill and was forced to break off the tour. At the beginning of the competition in Italy, Johanna Hagström and Maja Dahlqvist were also forced to discontinue due to colds.

Moa Ilar, Linn Svahn and Ebba Andersson are the remaining Swedish female skiers in the Tour de Ski. After Friday's sprint, 20 kilometers of skiathlon await on Saturday before everything is decided with a climb up the slalom slope Alpe Cermis on Sunday.
