"Gossip Girl" author Cecily von Ziegesar herself will be writing the book about the Upper East Side's uncrowned queen, Deadline reports. According to Deadline, the book "Blair" will follow Waldorf's life 20 years after the original series ended.
The first book, "Gossip Girl," which inspired the popular television series of the same name, was released in 2002 and spent more than 100 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. The series revolves around privileged young people at a private school on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City and the blogger "Gossip Girl."
The TV series aired between 2007 and 2012 and was a huge success. Two seasons of a newly created version will air from 2021-2023.
