At least 40 people have been killed and 70 injured in a grenade attack in southern Sudan, according to two hospital sources.
The rebel group SPLM-N is accused of being responsible for the attack. The group has been fighting against both the government-backed military and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since 2023.
The attack in Kadugli, the provincial capital of South Kordofan, is the second in three days where a large number of civilians have been killed. On Saturday, at least 40 people were reported killed in a grenade attack on a market in Omdurman in the state of Khartum.
