"In addition to the pride of representing two different national teams, I see it as an advantage to work internationally on both the men's and women's sides," the 35-year-old says in a press release.
He replaces Johanna Wiberg, who is leaving her role as assistant to national team captain Tomas Axnér after six years. Wiberg will remain with the association and become the new captain of the women's national league team.
Östlund has previously coached, among others, Sävehof's women's team and, most recently, Hallby's men's team, which he is now leaving.
