The former president is accused, among other things, of abuse of power and of having fabricated an official document in an attempt to fulfill a formal requirement to declare martial law, the investigators announce. The document is then said to have been destroyed.

He was deposed about three months ago after an impeachment procedure. Last week, he was arrested again at the request of the investigators. The new allegations mean that he will be deprived of liberty for up to six months pending trial.

Yoon has claimed that his decree on martial law was a desperate attempt to gain public support for his fight against the liberal opposition party Democratic Party (DP).
