The annual report on the death penalty shows that the number of people executed increased by 78 percent compared with 2024.
Most executions took place in Iran, where at least 2,159 people were executed. In the United States, the number of people executed almost doubled, from 25 to 47.
However, the global figure is believed to be much higher than the report shows because China is not included.
