FMV has signed an agreement with the state-owned space company SSC to gain the ability to launch satellites from the Esrange space base in Norrbotten from 2028.

The contract includes various systems and infrastructure to ensure protection and availability of satellite communications for the Swedish Armed Forces and its partners and allies.

"This is an important step in establishing Swedish satellite launch capabilities. The ability to launch satellites into orbit strengthens Sweden's position as a space nation," says Carl-Fredrik Edström, head of operations at FMV, in a press release.
