Max Fenger opened the scoring in the second minute. Kolbeinn Thordarson and Saidou Alioum extended the lead to 3–0 in the first half, each scoring within seven minutes.

After Alexander Berisson reduced the deficit for Degerfors in the final minutes, the match ended 3–1 in favour of IFK Göteborg.

With the victory, they secured top spot in the group and a place in the quarterfinals. But it wasn't all joy for the Gothenburgers.

After the hour mark, goalkeeper Viktor Andersson was injured and replaced by 18-year-old Alexander Carlsson. IFK Göteborg already had two goalkeepers, Elis Bishesari and Jonathan Rasheed, on the injury list.

Earlier in the day, Djurgården qualified for the playoffs in the Swedish Cup after a 2–0 victory against BP.
