In 2025, 103 murders or manslaughters were recorded in the Netherlands, reports the ANP news agency.
65 of the victims were men and 38 were women. In about half of the cases where women were murdered, the perpetrator was a partner or former partner.
The Dutch statistics agency CBS has been keeping these statistics for 30 years, and the number of murders is at its lowest level in that period. On average, there have been 123 murders per year in the country. The trend is downward: in the late 1990s and early 2000s, there were usually more than 200.
