The prime minister's spokesman, Eli Feldstein, was part of the inner political circle when the terrorist Hamas attacked Israel in 2023. Since then, Feldstein has been charged with leaking information to the media and receiving untaxed financial contributions. The disqualified aide is awaiting trial.
In a notable interview with the Israeli public service company Kan, Feldstein talked about the reactions after the attack and that Netanyahu asked him how the media reported on the Prime Minister's efforts.
“Are they still talking about the issue of responsibility?” Netanyahu asked, according to Feldstein.
The advisor's "first task" was to try to divert the focus from the issue of responsibility, according to Feldstein, who added that the prime minister appeared to be "panicked."
He wanted me to think of something that could be said to calm the media storm surrounding the question of whether the prime minister had taken responsibility, Feldstein said.
The interview is being broadcast at the same time as discussions are underway about the establishment of a commission that will, among other things, investigate the issue of responsibility in connection with the terrorist attacks.
