The Israeli prime minister says in the post that the Shiite Muslim militia Hezbollah is attacking Israel with fiber-optic drones, "but we are working on countermeasures and will solve the problem."

We will intensify our strikes against them, increase our firepower, and we will crush them,” he says in the clip on Telegram.

New attacks

Netanyahu's statement comes after two ministers, far-right Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and ultranationalist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, called for a major offensive in Lebanon on Monday.

Israel cannot only defend itself, but must also act as a deterrent, Smotrich says.

"For every armed drone from Hezbollah, ten buildings must collapse in Beirut. The response to a serious threat must be serious," he says in a post on Telegram.

Israel attacked several towns and villages in southern Lebanon on Monday, first at dawn and then in follow-up attacks throughout the day. According to the Lebanese news agency NNA, at least three people were killed in the early morning.

Soldier killed

The Israeli military claimed that the attacks were necessary because Hezbollah had violated the ceasefire that has been in effect since April 17.

Despite the ceasefire, both Israel and Hezbollah have continued their attacks almost daily. An Israeli soldier was killed by a drone on Sunday, bringing the total number of Israeli soldiers killed since the operation in Lebanon escalated on March 2.

During the same period, over 3,100 people have been killed in Lebanon in Israeli attacks, according to Lebanese data.
