The announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Netanyahu's future in an interview with ABC News. According to media reports, Trump has made tougher demands on Netanyahu and warned that he "will soon be standing alone" in the war in the Middle East.
"Does he want to continue? Because, you know, he's a wartime prime minister. We're going to win the war very soon, one way or another," Trump says.
Likud wrote on X that the prime minister will run in this fall's Israeli elections "and, God willing, win."
