"If the Iranians get nuclear weapons, nothing else will matter," Netanyahu writes in a post on X and shares an AI-generated image of a nuclear bomb over Tel Aviv.

The prime minister claims that other controversies surrounding the government are “one big smokescreen designed to hide the issue that overshadows all others,” The Times of Israel reports. This despite claiming last year that Israel had “avoided the threat of nuclear annihilation” from Iran by bombing its arch-enemy in the summer of 2025.

Ahead of Tuesday's election, Netanyahu writes that Israel has a limited window to act against Iran: while President Donald Trump is still in power in the United States.

Netanyahu claims voters risk exposing their families to “a second Holocaust” if they elect a leader who cannot confront Iran, and suggests that he himself would be the best-suited candidate.

Former general Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party and seen as Netanyahu's main challenger, accuses the prime minister of spreading fear ahead of the election.

“Netanyahu, you are hysterical,” Eisenkot writes on X.

“As with every election campaign, it’s the same method of lies and scare tactics. This time you are threatening Israeli citizens with mass destruction. And this after you failed to achieve the goals of the war in Iran.”
