Netanyahu spoke by phone with Bolsonaro in an effort to strengthen ties between Israel and Brazil once again, according to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.
“The Prime Minister invited Bolsonaro to visit Israel, and Bolsonaro, in turn, invited the Prime Minister to visit Brazil,” the statement said.
Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of Brazil’s former right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro, won the first round of the Brazilian presidential election this weekend and will face incumbent leftist President Lula da Silva in a decisive second round.
Bolsonaro has promised closer ties with Israel if he becomes president, including new agreements similar to those Argentina’s right-wing leader Javier Milei has made with the country.
