Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accuses the country's security chief Ronen Bar of having investigated the far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, without being approved by Netanyahu himself.

Netanyahu says it is "yet another exposed lie" that he would have approved the country's internal security service, Shin Bet, collecting evidence against Minister Ben Gvir.

He is referring to the reports that Ronen Bar, for several months – in secret – investigated right-wing extremist infiltration of the police, as well as connections to Ben Gvir.

Last week, Israel's government voted to dismiss Ronen Bar, head of the country's internal security service. This after Netanyahu stated that he lacked confidence in him. The dismissal was, however, temporarily stopped by the country's Supreme Court.
