The National Audit Office writes in a press release that this “may be partly due to a lack of knowledge about what the assignment requires”, and that jurors receive only a short introductory training course, ranging from one to eight hours.
“The shortcomings indicate a need for training among the jurors and for discussion of their role, what constitutes a conflict of interest and appropriate behaviour. Better introductory training and refresher sessions during their term of office would probably also reduce the risk of biased decisions,” says Linnea Olander, project manager for the review, in the press release.
