The two deceased are a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed and a 20-year-old woman on a moped who was hit by a car. At least 192 people have also been injured during the chaotic scenes that unfolded during the night.
In some places, clashes with the police occurred, who say that they made 491 arrests just in the capital, and an additional 71 outside. A total of 559 people were arrested.
Most people, however, celebrated a bit more calmly, but the police say that disturbances occurred on the parade street Champs-Élysées as well as at their home arena Parc des princes, where 48,000 people had earlier in the evening watched the 5-0 victory in Munich against Inter from Milan on giant screens.
Most of the nearly 500 people arrested are suspected of having possessed fireworks and causing disturbances, says the Paris police.
