Nearly 100 kangaroos were found shot dead at a military base in the Hunter Valley area north of Sydney in Australia in October. At the site, the police found a box of ammunition and empty cartridges.
A 43-year-old man is now being prosecuted, suspected of the deed, reports Australian media. The police managed to track the suspected shooter to a residence and during a house search, several weapons were seized, including a hunting rifle.
The 43-year-old is being prosecuted for aggravated animal cruelty, hunting offenses, weapons offenses, and trespassing. He has been released on bail pending trial in January.
