A judge ruled on Friday that the painting should be handed over to the rightful owner, the heir of Jewish art dealer Jacques Goudstikker, daughter-in-law Marei von Saher, Argentine Clarín reports.
“Portrait of a Woman,” painted in the 1730s by Giuseppe Ghislandi, was one of many works of art stolen by Nazi Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring from Goudstikker. After being missing for 80 years, the painting was discovered in 2025 - in a photo in a real estate advertisement for a home belonging to the daughter of SS man Friedrich Kadgien.
Kadgien was an economic adviser to Göring and fled to South America after World War II. He died in Argentina in 1978.
