It was a navigation error that caused the boat to hit a rock and run aground. The boat was supposed to go from Stockholm to Gothenburg, a four-day journey, but only made it as far as Trosa.
The 46 passengers on the boat were evacuated on Tuesday and spent the night at a hotel in Södertälje.
The boat could break free at any moment and needs to be inspected by the shipping company. But I don't think the damage is that extensive, says Fredrik Duveskog, CEO of Göta Kanal.
The passengers will be rebooked onto one of the company's other boats, either now or at a later date.
The shipping company will investigate how the grounding could have occurred.
