Yesterday, NATO's Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that four American soldiers had been involved in an incident and hinted that the soldiers were dead. However, the soldiers' fate is not confirmed, according to the military alliance.
"The search is ongoing," says NATO in a statement on X.
"We regret any confusion regarding Secretary-General Mark Rutte's comments on the incident. He referred to emerging news reports and did not confirm the missing soldiers' fate, which is still unknown," it continues.
According to the US Army, the armored vehicle in which the four American soldiers were during an exercise has been found submerged in a body of water.
