On Monday, nationalist artist Marko Perković will perform in Zagreb to welcome the national handball team.
The decision has met with criticism from, among others, the mayor of Zagreb, who tried to stop the performance.
Perković has previously been banned from performing in several countries due to his sympathies with the fascist Ustasha regime in Croatia.
The players themselves requested that the artist perform; the request was approved after the national government intervened.
"You always spread joy to the entire nation, so it is only right that we give something back," Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said to the handball players.
