Johansson led Stoke away to Bristol City as captain. Even before a minute had been played, he committed a costly error that Bristol capitalised on.
Bristol, where legendary coach Roy Hodgson resigned after taking over in the spring, won the season finale 2-0.
Johansson injured his shoulder around Christmas and has been out since then. He made a comeback for the under-21s as recently as Monday, and last week extended his contract with Stoke until 2030.
He made his last international appearance in the World Cup qualifying defeat away to Switzerland in November. He is a hot favourite for a place in national team manager Graham Potter's World Cup squad.
