When Atalanta lost 0-3 at home to Sassuolo on Sunday, it was the Bergamo club's second straight defeat. Before that, the team had not lost in nine league games, but seven of them have ended in draws and Atalanta is in 13th place in the Serie A table.
Juric had a less successful spell at Roma last year, leaving after less than two months in charge. He took over at Premier League club Southampton, but left early in April when it became clear that the club had been relegated from the English top flight.
