National Day Weather: Rain in Southern Sweden, Sun in the North

National Day offers unstable weather in large parts of the country. The greatest chances of sunshine are found in northern Norrland, at least in the morning, since clouds thicken even there.

Further south clouds dominate and a low-pressure system gives a wet start to Friday at the farthest point in the country.

It will already rain from early morning in southern Sweden, especially in the western parts, says Toni Fuentes, meteorologist at SMHI.

Even Skansen's national day celebrants make the wisest decision to arm themselves with both flag and umbrella for the rain will find its way over the country in the afternoon, first to Götaland and later to Svealand.

There is a high probability that it will rain in the Stockholm area in the evening, says Toni Fuentes.

On Saturday, it is a change of roles with rain in the north and sun glints in the southern and middle parts of the country before the next low-pressure system moves in on Sunday. The unstable weather continues then at the beginning of the next week when new low-pressure systems with rain and occasionally strong gusts sweep in over Scandinavia.
