Conan O’Brien has received renewed confidence to lead the Oscars and Nikki Glaser is also returning in 2026 as the host of the Golden Globes. The TV industry's major gala, the Emmy Awards, has however had a harder time finding a winning concept.
Now, CBS is announcing that stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze will be hosting the 77th Emmy Awards on September 14 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
"Nate is one of the hottest actors in the industry and an exceptionally funny brand that appeals to generations all over the world," says Cris Abrego, chairman of the Television Academy.
The Nashville comedian, who is often called "The nicest man in stand-up" for his ability to avoid swearing and meanness, was, with his 1.2 million sold tickets, the American comedian who earned the most last year according to the industry observer Pollstar.
Bargatze can, among other things, be seen in three different shows on Netflix, including the latest, "Your friend, Nate Bargatze", which was released in December. He has also been the host of "Saturday Night Live".
