Melville Ives was left lying on the ground after a bad landing in the snow and was quickly attended to by medical personnel. While he was receiving treatment, television footage showed other competitors holding each other and crying.

There is still no information about the 19-year-old's condition after the crash.

The accident occurred just hours after Canada's Cassie Sharpe was also taken away on a stretcher after a crash in the women's race.
