Sandra Näslund is back after her long-term injury problems. The ski cross star is making a comeback as the World Cup gets underway in Val Thorens these days.

It was in Val Thorens in last year's season premiere that Sandra Näslund suffered her latest injury, a fracture in her tibia.

Näslund fell in the qualifying round and has been out of competition ever since. Now the reigning Olympic champion and World Cup champion of recent years is ready to start again.

"The hard work is done, now the fun begins," says Näslund in a press release.

For Näslund, it is also the first chance to perform to earn a place in the Olympic squad for Milano-Cortina in February.

So far, only the brothers David and Erik Mobärg have received the go-ahead from the Swedish Olympic Committee.

"We are entering a season with the Olympics as the obvious highlight. We have a strong team with good chances for both the Olympics and the World Cup, with some new skiers who will be exciting to follow. We aim to once again be the world's best national team in ski cross," says head coach Eric Iljans.

The Swedish squad in Val Thorens:

Women: Sandra Näslund, Linnea Mobärg, Uma Kruse Een.

Men: David Mobärg, Erik Mobärg, Fredrik Nilsson, Måns Abersten, Sebastian Engelbrekts.
