The money was hidden in various places in the house.
"We knew the money was there, but we didn't know where, so we took the house apart," prosecutor Nicola Gratteri said in Naples.
Many of the bundles of banknotes were in spaces built into the walls, while others were hidden under the floor and shower tiles, he said.
The money is believed to have come from drug sales and was likely intended to buy more drugs, according to Gratteri.
